Hello, it’s Carrie!
Our team has enjoyed some time in Prague sightseeing, laughing, and learning. Some members of our team were able to reconnect with friends they met on previous mission trips to the Czech Republic. This was a great opportunity for them to water seeds and encourage believers.
It has also been interesting to learn about the rich history the church has in the Czech Republic. This new understanding has helped us to see how the history of the Catholic and Protestant conflicts negatively affected the Czech people. Good leaders were often followed by poor leaders. Frequent struggles with leadership and invasion by foreign powers have had a significant impact on their culture. The battles for power that we read about in history books came to life as we toured Prague. Despite its rich religious history, the Czech Republic is one of the most atheistic countries in the world today.
Some sightseeing highlights include:
the Astronomical Clock glockenspiel show in Old Town Square
walking across the scenic Charles Bridge
Touring parts of the Prague Castle - St. Vitus Cathedral, The Old Royal Palace, the Basilica of St. George, and the Golden Lane.
Spending time in the Jewish Quarter - Maisel Synagogue (introduction to Jewish history in Bohemia), The Pinkas Synagogue (a sobering reminder of Holocaust victims), the Old Jewish Cemetery, and the Old-New Synagogue.
And, of course, a little shopping and sampling some delicious food!
Prayer requests:
Please continue to pray for team unity, laughter, and encouragement during our time together. Pray that God would prepare our hearts for the next steps in ministry as we head to Pardubice today. Pray for health and safety as we travel.
Awesome photos, Carrie!!! How's the weather there? It looks nice. It's rainy today here. How is your foot feeling? I pray it is at least manageable so you can focus on your missions! We are praying everyday for you guys! 💝🙏🙌
